Nursery
Our Nursery Class
Old Fletton Primary School is fortunate to have a Local Authority maintained nursery class which is located within the main school buildings. It is managed by a fully qualified teacher, who is supported by experienced teaching assistants. It is open during school term time only and children may attend from the age of three years until the July prior to them starting primary school. The nursery currently offers five morning sessions.
Session times
Each session can accommodate up to 26 children. Sessions start at 9:00am and finish at 12:00pm.
How to register your child
We do not operate on a first come - first served basis. We suggest that you register your child around the time they become two and a half years old. We have found that this helps to ensure we have up-to-date details about you and your child when the time comes for us to be able to offer you a place. Registering your child can be done at the main school office and we will require sight of your child’s birth certificate or passport/ID card. We also require two documents showing evidence of your home address, for example a bank statement, council tax or utility bill.
Starting at nursery
Our main intake is in September each year when we admit children who are three years or older by the previous 31st August. Prior to starting we will invite you to meet with us at school. You will then be invited to bring your child along to a taster session and a start date will be agreed (usually within a few days). Our other main admittance dates are in January and after the Easter holidays. If we do not have sufficient places available to accommodate all registered children we will allocate the places according to our over-subscription criteria. Children may start in between these main admittance dates subject to certain conditions, including paying for sessions prior to becoming eligible for government funding. We will discuss this with you once your child reaches the age of three years.
About the Government Funding
Currently, children become eligible to receive 15 hours of funding from the government at the start of the term following their 3rd birthday. This will be collected automatically on your behalf, subject to the completion of the relevant forms, which we will supply. If you are eligible to receive 30 hours of government funding you may choose to use the remaining hours at another setting or childminder.
How to contact us
All enquiries are dealt with by the main school office. You can come in and speak to a member of staff during school hours (8:45am to 3:15pm) or telephone (01733) 554457. We also welcome visits prior to registering your child, please contact us to arrange a mutually convenient time.
